Last Updated: August 25th, 2024
Important Points:
Your Privacy Matters: We believe privacy is a fundamental right, and you have full control over your data.
- No Data Access: Cellarbot has no access to your personal data. Everything is stored securely in iCloud using CloudKit.
- Minimal Data Collection: We only collect barcodes and a randomly generated UUID for app functionality. No personal or location data is tracked or stored.
- No User Accounts or IP Logging: We don’t maintain user accounts, log IP addresses, or link any identifiable information to your activity.
- Secure Image Handling: Barcode scans are not saved, and label images are securely stored in CloudKit, with no access by Cellarbot.
- Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit for your security.
Privacy Policy:
At Cellarbot, we believe that privacy is a fundamental human right. We are committed to ensuring that all users have full control over how their data is used. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, use, and protection of your information when you use the Cellarbot app and the Cellarbot.app website.
User Data and Privacy Commitment:
Cellarbot respects your privacy. We do not use the data you provide to market, sell, or otherwise profit from or track your activities. Our services are designed to minimize data collection and maximize user privacy.
Data Storage and Access:
Cellarbot does not have any access to your personal data. All data within the Cellarbot app is stored in iCloud using CloudKit. No data from users is stored on any Cellarbot server or database. This ensures that your data remains private and under your control.
Web Services and Data Collection:
The only data recorded by Cellarbot’s web services are the barcode that you scan and a UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) which is randomly generated for each install. This UUID is unidentifiable to specific users. We use this UUID in our API calls to validate whether you are a Premium or non-Premium user and to ensure API performance and enforce rate-limiting checks.
No User Accounts or IP Logging:
Cellarbot does not maintain any user accounts and does not record IP addresses of users or API calls. We prioritize your privacy by not linking any identifiable information to your use of our services.
Image Handling:
- Barcode Scans: Images used for barcode scans are not saved to any Cellarbot server and are not even saved on your device. The barcode data is sent to the Cellarbot API service and then anonymously relayed to our lookup provider.
- Label Scans: Images used for label scanning are stored on your device and in Apple’s CloudKit service. Cellarbot (the service) has no access to these uploaded images, which are only stored in CloudKit, Apple’s secure and privacy-focused database service for iOS applications.
Location Data:
Cellarbot, Cellarbot.app, and our API service do not record any location data. We are committed to ensuring that your location data remains private.
Random UUIDs and User Anonymity:
To further protect your privacy, Cellarbot generates a random UUID for each app install. This UUID changes each time you update the app, ensuring that logs cannot be linked to specific users.
Data Encryption:
All data services from Apple are encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3, and all connections to Cellarbot’s API service are encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2.
We are dedicated to providing a secure and private experience for all Cellarbot users. Your data is yours, and we have designed our services with that principle in mind.
