Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 20, 2026
Privacy is at the heart of Cellarbot — your data is your data. We don't try to sell you wine, and we never collect data about you or your cellar to sell, share, or advertise against. This Privacy Policy explains what information Cellarbot ("Cellarbot," "we," "us," or "our") works with when you use the Cellarbot mobile application (the "App"), and the limited ways it is used.
1. The Short Version
- Your cellar — your bottles, tasting notes, values, and history — is stored privately in your own iCloud account, not on our servers.
- We do not collect, sell, or share personal information about you.
- We do not run third-party advertising or behavioral tracking.
- Subscriptions and purchases are handled by Apple, not by us.
2. Information You Create in the App
When you use Cellarbot, you create cellar data such as bottle names, vintages, varieties, wineries, regions, quantities, estimated values, purchase history, photos, and tasting notes. This information is stored in your device and synced through Apple iCloud (CloudKit) to your own private iCloud account so it is available across your devices. We do not have access to the contents of your private iCloud cellar.
3. Bottle Scanning & Lookups
When you scan a label or barcode, the App may send the image or barcode to our lookup service solely to identify the bottle and return matching product details (such as a name, producer, or image). These lookups are used only to make adding bottles fast and accurate. They are not used to build a profile of you, and they are not tied to your identity.
4. Camera & Photos
Cellarbot requests access to your camera so you can scan labels and barcodes and capture bottle photos. Camera and photo access is used only for these features. You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time in your device's Settings.
5. Subscriptions & Purchases
Cellarbot Free is available at no cost. Cellarbot Premium and Premium for Life are optional in-app purchases. All billing, payment information, and subscription management are handled by Apple through your Apple ID. We never see or store your payment details. Apple's handling of this information is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
6. Diagnostics
If you opt in through your device settings, Apple may share anonymous crash and performance diagnostics with us to help us fix bugs and improve the App. This information is aggregated and is not used to identify you.
7. How We Use Information
Any information the App works with is used only to:
- Provide and sync your cellar across your devices
- Identify bottles you scan and improve scanning accuracy
- Operate optional Premium features
- Diagnose and fix technical issues
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
8. Siri, Shortcuts & Widgets
Cellarbot supports Siri, the Shortcuts app, Spotlight, and widgets so you can query and add to your cellar quickly. These features run within Apple's frameworks on your device and operate on your own cellar data. They do not transmit your collection to us.
9. Data Retention & Deletion
Because your cellar lives in your iCloud account, you remain in control of it. You can delete bottles in the App, and you can remove all Cellarbot data by deleting the App and clearing its iCloud data from your Apple ID settings.
10. Children's Privacy
Cellarbot is intended for adults of legal drinking age and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
